Plasma Puffer is a boss appearing in MegaMan X: Corrupted, and one of the game's eight main bosses. Puffer is the one of the first three bosses available, along with Sparking Scorpio and Neurohack Mosquito, except on Sigma Class difficulty where all eight bosses are available from the start.

Prior to the events of MegaMan X: Corrupted, Plasma Puffer lived a happy, peaceful life in a deep sea cleaning station. This all changed when an airship belonging to some unscrupulous individuals crash landed on it, thereby ruining Puffer's peaceful life forever. To make matters worse, he was forcefully relocated the island's forgotten pipeworks to do maintainance work on the corrosive fluid pipes!

In a completely justified and moral decision, Plasma Puffer is trying to sell a fragment of the Eurasia Colony on the black market in an attempt to get rich and then move to somewhere much nicer. Whether the item he found is actually a fragment of the Eurasia Colony is up for debate, but it poses a potential risk regardless. Furthermore, his activities in the pipeworks have lead to flooding around the island, which is making rescue attempts on Maverick Hunter personel much more difficult.

The Hunters must find Puffer and put a stop to his activities immediately. Hopefully he's not too hard to find...

Attacks and Strategy

Puffer fights by spitting spiked bubbles which bounce around the room and stick to the walls and floor, and then inflating himself to bounce around the room as well. He uses the water level to his advantage, swimming faster whenever he's submerged.

Final Four Effect

If Puffer is one of the last four Mavericks remaining, items strategically positioned by lower-rank Maverick Hunters to assist X/Zero (aka items that are manually placed in stages, not random drops) have their cores corrupted and turned into purple items that cause an opposite effect (negative health, negative weapon energy, life decrease, etc.).

Trivia

  • Plasma Puffer is based on a Pufferfish.
  • In line with many games in the MegaMan X series and the MegaMan super-series as a whole, Puffer is the "goofy" boss out of the main bosses.
