In MegaMan X: Corrupted, characters may come across optional upgrades for their character which enhance their abilities.
The decision to acquire and use some of these items may have plot relevance.
X's Armors
X's armor parts can be mixed and matched, similar to the Neutral Armor from MegaMan X8.
Some combinations, such as equipping all of the parts from the same set, provide additional powers beyond those from the part equipped. Whenever an armor capsule is found, the part overrides the currently equipped one and can be used right away. The only exception is the Ultimate Armor, which is only available as a complete set.
The socket system is a new system, used alongside the Armor Combo system that was previously used to give specific armor combinations new effects. See the Socket System section on X's page.
Main Game Armors
The Phoenix Armor and Hydra Armor the two new armors found in hidden capsules throughout the world, while the Ultimate Armor is used in X's intro stage.
New Game+ Armors
The following armors, known colloquially as the Legacy Armors, are armor sets from the original games that have been rebalanced and repurposed for Corrupted as New Game+ content. Their unlock methods are currently unknown. The armors from the SNES and PS1 games are primarily what have been included for now.
Other Armors
Zero's Armors
There are two armors Zero may obtain through various story-related events. Zero's armors are unlike X's in that they are only available as complete items, and they do not give bonuses corresponding to the part of the body that the body goes over. Instead, they give him a memory allowance which increases as the player progresses through the game; said memory can be used to equip various skills. For further reading, see the Program System section on Zero's page.
Axl's Armors
There are two paint jobs that Axl may acquire by purchasing them. Their exact effects are unknown.
Synthia's Armors
Synthia might secretly be Vile on account of being purple. Or maybe she'll unlock wigs to hide her secret baldness. Who knows?
